How to Carve a Pumpkin for Halloween
Now that you have your design, it’s time to start carving. But don’t just hack at your beautiful pumpkin. Get the most out of your pumpkin carving stencil with these tips for how to carve a pumpkin.
- You’ll want to start by picking up a pumpkin carving kit. It will have everything you need, including a mini saw and other tools. You will also want a serrated knight, a large spoon, toothpicks, and a sharp paring knife, as well as a bowl for the goop.
- Cut a circle around the top of the pumpkin and remove the whole stem. You need a hole that’s large enough for you to fit your hand inside.
- Remove the pulp and seeds with the large spoon.
- Tape your pumpkin carving stencil to the outside of the pumpkin.
- Take your toothpick and puncture the pumpkin template all along the stencil. When you remove the pumpkin carving stencil, you’ll have a dotted line you can follow for carving.
- Carve along the dotted line with a serrated or paring knife.
- Your pumpkin is ready to shine! Simply place a candle inside.
